Can we paddle anywhere?
In the UK, you need a license to paddle in most of the waterways, rivers, lakes, etc.
BCU membership (Canoe England, Canoe Wales, Scotland Canoe Association and the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland) includes a license to paddle on 5000km of Britain's waterways and canals.

Not all inland water is open to canoeists, some are privately owned or is bounded by land which is private, so do check beforehand. See Useful Websites page.

Folding / Inflatable Kayaks and Canoes (New)

A listing of a wide range of kayaks (new), with a range of colours available to choose from. From a short single seater to a large family sized 4 seater. Catering for week-enders to touring to fully fledged multi-day expeditions.

Single seater kayaks - starting with a 2.5m long inflatable kayak for a child up to a 5m long fast sea going kayak for adults. Some kayak models may have ready fittings to accommodate a 2nd paddler / person - purchase an optional extra seat.

Two seater kayaks & canoes - some of these kayaks can readily be used as a single seater by placing the 'solo' seat centrally. Some model kayaks have space for an additional 3rd seat for a small child. There are also some kayaks that are designed to provide a central storage space between the paddlers. There is a 'new kid on the block' - a multi-role hybrid boat that can be paddled as a canoe with bench seats fitted or as a kayak with inflatable floor seats - Neris SMART-2

Three seater kayaks - use as a double seater with extra storage space in the place of the middle seat. Some model kayaks have space for an additional / optional 4th seat for a small child.

Neris SMART-2	An hybrid kayak / canoe with a design using the frame concept from folding kayaks and skins from inflatable kayaks. This results in a very quick assembly of 5-7 minutes. With a keel akin to that of a folding kayak, this boat is faster and more economical to paddle than typical inflatable kayaks.
