19/11/17 - new 'kid on the block' - Neris SMART Series of kayaks. Unique hybrids that can either be paddled as a canoe with bench seats or as a kayak with inflatable floor seats. A cross between a folding kayak and an inflatable kayak. Starting with SMART-2 here

17/11/17 - new range of Greenland paddles added - Gram Kajak paddles. In 2-3 piece in both wood and carbon versions. Appearing on the 'New Paddles' page here

Can we paddle anywhere?
In the UK, you need a license to paddle in most of the waterways, rivers, lakes, etc.
BCU membership (Canoe England, Canoe Wales, Scotland Canoe Association and the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland) includes a license to paddle on 5000km of Britain's waterways and canals.

Not all inland water is open to canoeists, some are privately owned or is bounded by land which is private, so do check beforehand. See Useful Websites page.

Demo Days, Try Outs and Shows



Listed below are some events where Folding Concepts UK will be this year (2017)

We generally show a few selected kayaks from each of the various brands at the events. Should there be a boat that you are specifically interested in, do let us know beforehand. We will gladly bring along any other boats in addition to the main boat/s being used for try outs etc.

2017

2-4th June 2017 - Beale Park Boat and Outdoor Show. Lower Basildon, Reading, Berkshire, RG8 9NW
Boats from Neris, Wayland and ZelGear, replacement skins from various brands, spares for vintage Klepper and Tynes, and many more.

2016

13th Nov - 11 Dec 2016 - The demo MyCanoe 2.5 will be based in Huddersfield West Yorkshire, care of Greg Spencer (for own reviewing, testing, feedbacks etc - is not employed by us). Try-Outs organised by Greg etc will be held within the central England region. Details to follow. If interested, do email us ad we will arrange that you be kept in the loop.

22nd and / or 23rd October - MyCanoe Try-out - Poole Harbour Canoe Club. Contact for details (Adrian Oates). Open to non-members.

18th & 19th October - MyCanoe Try Out - 9:00am - 3:00pm - Lake Pier, Lake Drive, Hamworthy, Poole. BH15 4LR (weather dependent). Spring tides. The swell can pick up within the harbour with the prevailing wind. Once we have a better idea of the weather closer to the time, we can plan trips accordingly. NOTE - If you plan to come to this event, do contact us beforehand to check that the event will go as planned - actual location may be changed at last moment.

13th - 16th - MyCanoe Try Out - Stourton - the canoe will be based / used at Stourton between 13th-16th. Contact for details

12th Oct - MyCanoe Try Out - Windsor Canoe Club (4:30pm) - evening paddle with club. Non-members may join in.

1st Oct - MyCanoe Try Out - Thames Valley Paddle Fest. Longridge, Marlow (Paddle Fest has been cancelled)

13th Sept - MyCanoe / NERIS Valkure-2 Try Out - Basingstoke Canal - Barley Mow, Winchfield. MyCanoe SOTP Review

10th Sept - MyCanoe / NERIS Valkure-1 Try Out - River Thames - Shiplake Lock. SOTP Review

11th June - Reading Water Festival - Forbury Park
